Some highlights of Abigail's Adventures in China thus far:

• Created, specially for China, the Sparrow Quartet, featuring eleven-time Grammy winner (and thirty-plus-time nominee) Bela Fleck (banjo), Grammy nominee Casey Driessen (fiddle/vocals), and the critically-acclaimed Ben Sollee (cello/vocals). Initially a “made-in-China” project, the Sparrow Quartet went on to tour across North America and release two records to rave reviews.

• Lead the first group of American musicians --- the star-studded Sparrow Quartet --- ever to be invited into Tibet by the Foreign Ministry to tour universities and other venues in Lhasa and Linzhi (YGTwo’s tour digest is here)

• Teamed up with superstars of Chinese traditional music: A (girl!) group of the country’s foremost traditional musicians both graduates, teachers and students of the China Conservatory; Mongolian folk group Hanggai; members of Kazakh group Iz; Chengdu-based traditional instrumentalist Li Daiguo; a collection of young Sichuanese children; an indie-rock band, Wu Force, with Kai Welch and guzheng player Wu Fei and more.

• Recorded and released Afterquake, a project that saw her and the Shanghai Restoration Project use field recordings of Wenchuan Earthquake survivors to create a new electro-traditional music blend whose profits were donated to the clean-up efforts.

• Perform at venues. schools, universities, festivals, clubs and theatres around the country to audiences ranging from orphans to Olympians, expats to diplomats, rockers to ambassadors.

Meanwhile, from her American home, Abigail has performed in a range of festivals, theatres, clubs, schools and more and has shared the stage most recently with actor/comedian/banjo player/Grammy winner Steve Martin. Abigail has been featured in many of the world’s leading media outlets including: CNN, CBS, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Paste Magazine, Newsweek, National Public Radio, Time Out, CCTV-9, China Radio International, QQ, China Central Radio, Beijing Radio, Radio.cn.
