Seattle indie rockers extraordinaire hit China for one last overseas tour before the band goes their separate ways.
Pretty Girls Make Graves was formed in 2001 out of an eclectic group of musicians pulled together from a diverse group of Seattle bands (Murder City Devils, Death Wish Kids, Bee Hive Vaults, Kill Sadie). The music they created crossed genres and defied categorization, and quickly drew critical acclaim. In the wake of their first EP release (2001’s “Pretty Girls Make Graves”), they were named on the AP’s “100 Bands You Need To Know in ‘02” list. Their first full-length (“Good Health”) combined early Fugazi with Rocket From the Crypt and created something altogether different and new. The iconic Matador Records picked up the band and released the single “This is Our Emergency” in 2003 followed by the LP “Romance”. After tours with notable indie rock acts such as Death Cab for Cutie, Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand, “Elan Vital” was released in 2006.
With the decision of drummer Nick DeWitt to leave the band, the remaining members felt that it wouldn’t be right to continue on. So Pretty Girls Make Graves have decided to make China their last overseas tour before packing it in.
